Pilot Blog

It's about 55 degrees in my loft, with a slight chance of espresso. Perfect conditions for a blog...

So what to talk about on this thing they call "blog"? We can talk about why my loft is so cold, or we can talk about why it took me so long to start blogging. Well, let me start by saying this - I don't know how long I'll be able to type...I'm pretty sure the temperature of this loft has caused the numbing of my pinky finger. So what, I don't use my pinky to type anyway, right? I'm like woody the woodpecker typing on this thing...each coffee-stained key coming closer and closer to its last click...Wow, almost just lost the 'c' key there...Had to push it at least half a dozen times. It's like a broken pez dispenser - you push it, but nobody knows whens the candy is going to come out. But seriously, be nice to the pinky. It's probably the only real fan of this blog I'll ever have...and no, my mom doesn't count. You can't count someone as a fan who you pay to read it. Any more $50 pay-outs and I'm going to have to ask a corrupt banker for a loan.

So back to the loft...I don't grow ice cycles for a reason. It was a personal decision made by my checking account. She can only handle so many Arby's charges a month. Something had to give, and it was the thermostat. I mean, you can always add layers, but there's only so many layers you can take off (especially when none of the windows have blinds). Heck, I'm glad I turned off the heat. It was the hardest, yet easiest way to save some caysh. Easiest way - took 2 seconds to adjust the thermostat. Hardest way - I don't know if I'll ever regain color in my pinky. But don't let me be a debbie downer about my pinky. I tell you, it started as a money thing, but now it is something much more. Since turning off the heat, I have never felt so awake. My overall nap time has been reduced by at least 30 minutes a day, to just under 4 hours per power nap. Less nap time = less drool = more savings on laundry. It is the circle of life. Everybody wins.

Okay, so back to my lack of blogging...I know it took me forever to start this, but let's be honest..."Blogging" sounds more like a winter Olympics game than it does a free write. "I'm going to go blog!" "Okay, but stay on the course this time, Nancy! No, going out of bounds is not a short cut!" It's like a cross between super-g and curling - You have 2 dudes brushing the imperfections off the slope, while the guy in the middle cruises down on his own homemade toboggan...It's fun, it's fun..
